Thanks for visiting the Hobie Fleet 10 Website. 2008 is the year of the Hobie Cat in Clear Lake! This year we start out with the “Frozen Fish Regatta” a No Frills Points Regatta scheduled as a flex weekend event. That means its primary date is the first weekend in May and if the weather is bad, we push back one week to the 2nd weekend in May. More information is under “Upcoming Regattas”. The Clear Lake Yacht Club also has a full summer of Club racing with our first regatta over Memorial Day weekend. Hobie Cat Division 7 is the premier division of the Hobie Class Association this year. With a full schedule of Hobie Class racing this summer Yankton. S.D. hosts the Hobie 20 North American Championships the first week in June. There are also several Divisional points regattas which you can see by clicking on Division 7 under the Links tab of our site!
Finally, the great Hobie Racing Season is capped off with the Grand Daddy of all Hobie events: The Hobie 14, Hobie 16 Women, Hobie 16 Youth, and the Hobie 16 Open North American Championships. This phenomenal event has NEVER been hosted in Iowa or Division 7. We will have competitors from all over the North American Hemisphere. Teams from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, and all across the United States will converge on Clear Lake in September. We at Fleet 10 are always encouraging new people to try Hobie Cat Sailing. We keep several boats at what we call “Hobie Beach” the marsh area just South-West of the Clear Lake State Park. If you have no idea what Hobie sailing is all about but would like to experience the greatest ride in sailing…please contact one of the officers under “About Us”. We are a great group of laid back beach bums who love to sail Hobie’s and enjoy the Sun and Wind!
